Preregistration helps the host in planning a great event by knowing the number of referees to hire. If there aren't enough referees because fencers did not preregister and then show up, it can cause long delays during the running of an event, sometimes even causing 2 flights of pools. So please, pre-register. It's easy.
-- Pre-register with the contact person for that specific event. The contact person can change from meet to meet, so don't contact the wrong individual.
-- When you pre-register, provide a telephone number where you can be reached the day of the event.
-- Also provide your e-mail address, if you pre-register by phone. This is very important during the winter months if a meet must be cancelled because of bad weather. Always check the Division Web site for up-to-date information.

MEET CANCELLATIONS DUE TO BAD WEATHER
If you have pre-registered for a meet:
-- Before leaving for the meet venue, check your e-mail and/or answering machine to see if you've received a message that the meet has been cancelled.

If you have not pre-registered for an event:
-- You will have to determine whether the meet has been cancelled by:  calling the meet host (indicated on the WPD website) OR  calling the WPD Chair, Deb Theriault (home ph. # 724-327-4159) The meet host will be responsible for determining whether a meet should or should not be held, since the host is usually familiar with the streets and roads leading to the venue, and is most likely to know the weather forecast for that vicinity. We know this is a bit cumbersome, but the bottom line is this: for the winter months, *pre-register for meets*. We can't notify you if we don't know you're coming to the event.
